Information Sources of Republic of Armenia
Thanks to the by financing Institute of Open Society-fund of assistance to Armenia, as
well as direct assistance of Central European Institute of Open Society in Budapest for
electronic publications programs, the Republican Scientific and Technical Library of the
Republic of Armenia von a grant Ar98-EP-001 " Creation and Production of CD Series
"Armenia. Industry, Science, Intellectual Property."
It is a first attempt in the history of Armenia to create the most full information material
concerning achievements of the Republic in the various fields of science and
technology, scientists’ activity, publications, organizations.
In the past, practically only uncoordinated materials existed, which didn’t give an
integral picture about achievements of Armenia.
Mostly, materials have identical texts in Russian and English. Russian texts are placed
in "Rus" catalogue, and English texts in "Engl" catalogue.
In files of CD provider "Arm_r.pdf" and "Arm_e.pdf" there is a lot of useful information
about history, geography, political system, economy of Armenia, as well as, many
colorful photographies of the country, scientific
institutions. The value of these materials is in its bilingual information.
CD contains information concerning the science organization scientific institutions, main
scientific development and its orientation. Data about scientific organizations are given
in "Org_r.pdf" and "Org_r.pdf" files: general information, area of activity, results of
activity and international connections.
In CD are separately presented abstracts of scientific research works and experimental
working-out (SRW and EW) Completed in 1993-1997,
on state financing. "Digest of SRW-EW abstracts" including the results of Armenian
scientists, activities, is placed in "Nir_r.pdf" and "Nir_e.pdf" files. This work has been
created on standard of Centre of Technical Information of Russian Federation "Digest of
abstracts".
The idea of the state registration of SRW and EW subjects, has been renewed. Today
we can only regret, that works which have financing from non-governmental sources,
are inaccessible. In the file "Registr_r.pdf" is placed "Bulletin of SRW and EW state
registration" where one can find bibliographical description of works completed in
Armenia during 1992-1997.
The creation of "Who is who in science of Armenia" handbook was very labourconsuming
work. The file "Who is who_r.pdf" includes brief biographical data about
3700 more or less active scientists of the Republic.
Arm NIINII together with RSTL was an initiator of the scientific manuscripts deposit
system's restoration, and many young scientists could in a brief space of time present
their candidate and doctor’s dissertations for defence.
Files "Dep_r.pdf" and "Dep_e.pdf" include bibliography and abstracts of scientific
manuscripts, in particular, of highly specialized character, large circulation publication
of which is pointless.
The largest volume in CD falls on bibliography of author's certificates, patents and
selective achievements of inventors-Armenians, who lived and worked in the Republic
of Armenia and USSR from 1924 until the USSR collapse.
The file "Pat_arm.pdf" includes data about 10000 inventions, created in the territory of
Armenia in 1924-1992, and about 40 selective achievements of Armenian selectionists.
The file "Pat_rus.pdf" includes description of 33000 author's certificates, received by
Armenians in USSR in 1965-1992.
A large section in CD is dedicated to the Armenians-inventors of USA.
The file "Pat_usa.pdf" includes information about 9500 patents, received by Armenians
of USA in 1964-1983.
For full presentation about industrial potential of Armenia, a retrobase about all
industrial enterprises in the territory of the Republic of Armenia and nomenclature of
their products have been placed in CD. In the catalogue "Indust" the produce of
enterprises of machine-building, electronic, radio industry, instrument-making, machinetool,
tool-making, electrotechnical, chemical, metallurgical, construction, woodworking,
light, food industries of the Republic, as well as communication means industry, has
been presented.
CD contains an original bibliographical material about scientific works of Armenian
scientists in the area of agricultural science. Files "Agr_r.pdf" an "Agr_r.pdf" contain
2500 bibliographical descriptions of scientific works in agriculture published in Armenia
in 1980-1995.
